MOC HOA – THE GREEN GEM OF THE MEKONG DELTA

Located in the western part of Long An Province, about 70 km from Tan An City, Moc Hoa is a peaceful and charming corner of southern Vietnam. With its tropical monsoon climate, warm all year round, the region has two main seasons — the rainy and the dry — each offering its own unique beauty.

The heart of Moc Hoa is Tan Lap Floating Village, often called “the green gem of Dong Thap Muoi”. Drifting through endless melaleuca forests, breathing in the scent of lotus flowers, and watching the calm water create a quiet, relaxing experience. You can paddle a small traditional canoe, walk along the trail through the forest, or simply enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature.

Beyond its natural beauty, Tan Lap also preserves the cultural soul of the Mekong Delta — seen in the simplicity and warmth of its people. Nearby, the Dong Thap Muoi Medicinal Plant Reserve offers nature lovers a chance to explore a rich and diverse ecosystem.

The best time to visit Moc Hoa:

From August to November (lunar calendar), during the flood season, when the area turns into a shimmering inland sea.

In the dry season, Moc Hoa remains charming with golden leaves, clear waters, and the gentle fragrance of lotus in the air.

When it comes to local food, don’t miss bún xiêm lo — a flavorful fusion of Vietnamese and Cambodian cuisines. Other southern specialties include grilled snakehead fish wrapped in lotus leaves, lẩu mắm (fermented fish hotpot), and Long An’s bánh tét (sticky rice cake).

Visiting Moc Hoa is an invitation to slow down and feel the rhythm of the Mekong Delta — where time moves gently, nature embraces you, and peace flows with the quiet green waters.
