MAI CHAU – A PEACEFUL VALLEY AMONG THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTHWEST VIETNAM

Hidden among the mountains of northwest Vietnam, Mai Chau is a green and tranquil valley full of life. Without noise or rush, this area wins travelers’ hearts with its simple charm — stilt houses, winding village paths, fresh air, and poetic scenery.

Each season paints Mai Chau in a different color: the soft green of rice fields between March and May, and the golden glow of harvest time from July to October. Together, they create a vivid picture where the beauty of nature blends with the calm of rural life.

When visiting Mai Chau, you can stroll through the charming Lac Village, which has over 700 years of history, where endless rice fields stretch to the horizon and elegant stilt houses of the White Thai people stand proudly. You can also visit the peaceful Poom Coong Village, nestled at the foot of the mountains.

Beyond its natural beauty, Mai Chau is rich in cultural traditions — with the graceful “xòe” dances, folk songs, and the warm hospitality of the Thai, Muong, H’mong, and Dao ethnic communities, all creating a unique harmony between culture and nature.

From here, you can explore the magical beauty of Thung Nai, often called the “Ha Long Bay on land,” or be amazed by the Go Lao Waterfall, white and wild amid the forest.
But above all, it’s the genuine smiles and open hearts of the local people that make Mai Chau such a special and unforgettable place — a peaceful retreat where time slows down, and the soul feels at home.
